Maersk Container Tracking

Track a Maersk container using Universal Shipment Tracking. Check the container identifier, confirm the carrying line and open the official Maersk cargo record.

Maersk is preferred when the number is ambiguous. You can choose another carrier below.

Which Maersk number should I use?

A container identifier has four letters and seven digits. Supported owner-code suggestions include MSKU and MAEU, among others. Maersk bill of lading and booking references are different identifiers; use the reference exactly as printed on the shipment document.

Format example: MSKU1234565. Examples illustrate identifiers, not live shipments.

Use container or shipment tracking deliberately

Maersk’s official tracking entry point accepts shipment and container references. A container search follows one box, while a shipment-level reference may group multiple containers. Choose the reference that answers your question and confirm any individual equipment events against the shipment record.

Maersk owner codes are clues, not routing guarantees

A container with a familiar owner prefix can travel under a different contracted carrier. Conversely, Maersk can carry equipment with another owner code. Check the booking or bill of lading before accepting the universal tool’s suggestion. The check digit verifies the container-number format, not the shipping line.

Arrival, discharge and pickup are separate

An ocean arrival or discharge event does not mean the goods can be collected immediately. Confirm customs clearance, carrier release and pickup instructions through the responsible parties. Any estimated milestone belongs to Maersk’s current record; this tool does not calculate sailing times or release dates.

One universal tool, official carrier records

You can use the same tool for other supported services. Numbers are processed in your browser; status appears on the official carrier page. Where prefill is unavailable, copy the number and enter it there. For broader reference guidance, see container & ocean freight tracking.
