Which India Post & Speed Post number should I use?

A common supported international postal pattern is two letters, nine digits and IN, such as EE123456785IN. Keep the leading letters and suffix. Use the article number from the booking receipt, not the postage payment reference.

Where the Speed Post reference comes from

Look for the article or consignment identifier on the booking receipt or the sender’s dispatch confirmation. India Post may ask for the number and a captcha on its own website. Use Copy number here before opening that page; HS Code Atlas does not submit or bypass the captcha.

Understanding an IN postal suffix

In an S10 identifier, IN is an issuing-authority country suffix. It is not the destination country and does not guarantee that every physical leg originated in India. For international delivery, the destination postal operator may show additional events using the same complete identifier.

When an article record has stopped changing

Check the latest office and event on the official record, and ask the sender to confirm the article was actually handed over. A postal movement or customs handover is not a delivery scan. Use the contact or complaint route on the official India Post website for shipment-specific follow-up.
